Job poaching is when a competitor in their absence recruits an employee of one organization. It can use it for employees with valuable expertise or for management employees who manage the recruitment and hiring processes. The word job poaching stems from when poaching meant the hunting of animals for the expression used today. Poaching was a popular pastime because it was illegal, but it evolved into other practices that are now accepted standards.
