Voluntary provident fund (VPF) is a savings plan in India. It is a pension scheme and an employment-based savings scheme operated by some companies where employees and employers regularly contribute to a common fund. An employee may use voluntary PF as a tool for long-term savings, wealth creation, or retirement planning. In the case of Voluntary PF, the subscriber can withdraw the savings only after the completion of five years . However, a subscriber who has completed at least three years under Voluntary PF may withdraw the amount over their employer’s matching contribution but not exceeding 50% of the total net subscription made during their entire participation period Voluntary PF.
