What is Diversity Training? | Meaning & Definition | Akrivia HCM

Diversity training (also known as “D&I” or discrimination and inclusion) is crucial for most organizations today. It focuses on building diversity by addressing unconscious bias, inclusion and retention issues, and recruitment. It is essential for an organization’s success in the long term because it provides employees the opportunity to learn about diverse backgrounds and perspectives that may differ from their own before making a judgment call. It uses various methods but focuses on creating engaging discussions and activities to teach empathy and understanding. There are two primary components of diversity training: implicit bias training and micro-aggressions training. These components fit together to create a more inclusive work environment where everyone feels safe sharing their opinions without fearing judgment.
