The Minimum Wages Act, 1948 is a move of legislation that the 2nd Parliament of Pakistan passed. Replicated this Act from India’s Labour Laws, its primary significance is setting a minimum standard for wages in enterprises for skilled and unskilled workers. In other words, it helps the workers to get fair remuneration for the labor they provide to their employers. The Act, without any doubt, made it mandatory for every employer in Pakistan to pay its workers an adequate amount as designated by the government.
