{"id":5704,"date":"2022-01-07T13:39:28","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T13:39:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/43.204.200.242\/hr-glossary\/tan\/"},"modified":"2024-02-13T14:02:27","modified_gmt":"2024-02-13T08:32:27","slug":"tan","status":"publish","type":"hr-glossary","link":"https:\/\/akriviahcm.com\/resources\/hr-glossary\/tan","title":{"rendered":"Tan"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b>What is TAN?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TAN, called Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number, is a 10-digit alphanumeric code the Income Tax Department issues to a person responsible for deducting or collecting tax.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Different types of TAN applications<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The two different types of applications are<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Application to allot a new TAN(Form 49b).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Form for correction or change in allotted TAN.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Procedure to apply for TAN<\/b><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visit the official website of PROTEAN<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the TAN option under the services tab.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose the New TAN option under the Apply Online dropdown.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to the bottom of the page and choose one from the category of deductors.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will be redirected to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/akriviahcm.com\/resources\/hr-glossary\/form-49b\"><b>Form 49b<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
