Year to date (YTD) is a common financial term used in accounting to refer to the period from the beginning of a financial year until the same fiscal year. For example, if you began using an accounting method on January 1st, it would generate YTD information for all transactions completed up until December 31st. This data is helpful for accounting as it can be found in many indicators, including revenue, profit & loss, and balance sheet figures.
