A medical leave of absence is a non-permanent leave from the employment given to a worker who cannot work due to a health state. Many companies have policies for this type of leave that includes notifying supervisors and human resources. Some states may require that workers provide sufficient documentation with their request for a medical leave unless they are off work for less than three consecutive days.
