An “independent contractor” is an individual that delivers their services to clients, separate from their primary employer. These individuals typically have no business location, telephone number, or set schedule at the client site. The IRS has some specific requirements to ensure that the worker is indeed an independent contractor, not just a full-time employee on a part-time basis doing work similar to what they do all day at their regular job.
