High-Potential Employee (HIPO)

A High-Potential Employee (HIPO) is defined as an outstanding employee grooming to occupy executive positions shortly. It is a systematic process where HR is a key player. HIPO candidates are recruited for possible vacancies for higher posts and trained for them. With their increased ability, required knowledge, and skills, HIPOs can be placed at any top management position except the chief executive officer (CEO) or the chief operating officer (COO).
