A condition of employment is a binding agreement between an employer and an employee. It defines the terms and conditions of work, like salary, job description, time off, etc. The term ‘Conditions of Employment’ refers to a set of norms on which the employment agreement exists. They might also be termed as ‘Working Conditions’ in some instances.

The conditions of employment can include the following:

  1. The employee must meet specific minimum qualifications
  2. The employer may change or terminate the condition at any time without notice
  3. The conditions may be changed or terminated at any time without notice
  4. Employees are entitled to terminate their contract if they are not happy with their working environment
  5. Employees have the right to ask for re-training or other opportunities
  6. Employees have a right to seek leave when necessary (with or without cause)
  7. Employees have a right to take legal action if they feel mistreat
